 COURSE DESCRIPTION AND AIM

 

Telemedicine is a system of dynamic collection of various components - medical professionals, information and communication technologies, patients, documents, etc., united by specialized goals and common functions.

This course is designed and aimed both at health professionals and medical professionals who will use the techniques and methods of telemedicine as part of their clinical practice, and for key support to any other participant or interested in the field of telemedicine and / or telehealth.

The lecture material is flexible, as the main starting point is to develop practical knowledge in the field of telemedicine science and practice, competence in the ethical use of telemedicine and teleeducation, as well as technical knowledge to implement a simplified model of telemedicine service. Good examples of successfully implemented by medical practice in Bulgaria and around the world telemedical soluions are also presented and discusses.

LEARNING OUTCOMES 

 

Students who complete this course:

 

1) will know:

  • they difference between telemedicine, teleeducation and teleconferencing
  • different practical aspects of synchronous and asynchronous telemedicine
  • to identify the main obstacles to the implementation of the telemedicine service in their own country
  • to identify the costs and administration of the telemedicine service

 

2) will be able to:

  • to offer as part of information support the activities in medical and health institutions telemedicine schemes for labor organization
  • to prepare technical project assignments for telemedical workig solutions

 

 

TutorAssoc. prof. Polina Mihova, PhD
 
 
Polina Mihova has a PhD in Computer and Communication Technology. She is an associate professor  at the Department of Health care and Social Work since 2010 and a representative of the NBU for the Bulgarian Institute for Standardization (BIS). Her main scientific interests are in the field of Information Systems in Medicine, Telemedicine and Terminological Qualification of Medical Informatics.

 

 
 
The courses lasts 12 hours /online/
 
Tuition fee: 100 Euro.
