 COURSE DESCRIPTION AND AIM

 

The course introduces the basic processes in the behavior of somatic and mental disorders and the influence of personality characteristics and personality disorders in diagnosis, disease diagnosis, treatment plan, regimen, rehabilitation and recovery from the disease. The types of personality disorders and their relation to the process of somatic and mental illness course are considered.

 

     

COURSE CONTENT:

Illness behaviour, factors influencing the process of diagnosis of the disease.

Illness behaviour, factors influencing the process of treatment and rehabilitation

Influence of the personality in the process of disease detection, treatment and recovery - cluster 1

Influence of the personality in the process of disease detection, treatment and recovery - cluster 2

Influence of the personality in the process of disease detection, treatment and recovery - cluster 3

6

Emotional and behavioural factors related to the personality that affect the process of transition through chronic disease and are relevant to lifestyle and prevention

 

 

LEARNING OUTCOMES 

 

Students who complete this course:

 

1) will know:

 

  • Principles of illness behavior
  • The characteristics of personality disorders and their relationship to the disease process

2) will be able to:

 

  • Participate in a team to assist patients in the process of diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation

 

 

Tutorassoc. prof. Margarita Stankova, MD, PhD
 
 
Prof. Margarita Stankova, MD, PhD, graduated from the Medical University, Sofia, specialty Psychiatry and a Master's program in "Communication Infringements" at the NBU and doctoral program "Language and Speech Pathology" at the NBU. She has successfully completed courses and trainings at NTNU, Trondheim, Iavante Foundation, Granada. Since 2013 he has been an Associate Professor of “Public Health” at NBU at the Department of “Health and Social Work”. Since 2014 she has been the director of the Center for Therapy for Communicational and Emotional Behavioural Disorders at NBU. Head of the Department of “Health and Social Work” from 2016
The scientific and practical interests of Assoc. prof. Margarita Stankova are in the field of psychopathology, developmental disorders, communicative disorders, autism spectrum disorders, integration of children with special educational needs, etiological mechanisms and the role of the environment for the occurrence of the violations, programs for therapy, evaluation of the effect of therapeutic interventions
prof. Margarita Stankova is the author of four monographs in the field of developmental disruptions and 62 publications in this field. She has edited seven editions on the topic, participated in 15 scientific and applied projects in the field of work with children with developmental disabilities.
